Goat Cookies

By Chris Ricard & Debbie Davis

Some years ago Deb Davis in CO gave me the following recipe for Cow/Goat Cookies. I now make them to have on hand for people to feed the cows when the come to visit….

  • 12 cups sweet feed, COB, or other grain mix
  • 2 cups bran (oat, wheat or both)
  • 1 Tblsp salt
  • 4-5 cups molasses (5 if using a plain grain mix)
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 1-2 cups dried apples and/or carrots, chopped fine

Mix all ingredients, refrigerate one hour.

Using a tablespoon, scoop cookies onto lightly greased cookie
sheets.

Bake at 275 for 45 minutes, turn cookies and bake an additional
45 minutes.

Keep in a cool dry place or can be frozen.

I have found the Bran Flakes cereal works the best rather than
the bran. Baking them on Parchment Paper on the cookie sheet keeps
them from sticking.
